Why are some people more likely to stand up for others more than themselves? My theory is that it is because deep down everyone wants to have that feeling of being someone’s hero. Even on a small scale we revere everyday heroes who just do daily acts of kindness. Standing up for someone else and what you believe is right is no different, it can put you the national news in the right circumstances. I do not believe attention is the gain though. I think that in general, standing up for someone else or attempting to help them just has a more positive connotation and it shows. If I wind up in a confrontation over an injustice I might be considered irate or quick to make a big deal over nothing. But if someone else makes a big deal out of it on my behalf than their efforts are considered valiant. It’s almost laughable when yo think about it.
